Memory Master

Well, Anna is an official "Memory Master" now. We did cycle 1 of the Classical Conversations (CC) Foundations program this year. It's a homeschooling enrichment programs that covers Math, Science, History, English Grammar, Latin, Bible, Fine Art and Music as well as public speaking skills. We really enjoyed it and hope to do it again for cycle 2 and 3. With the baby coming next year I don't think we'll be able to participate again for awhile (although we will cover these subjects at home). Anyway, back to what memory master is all about. When a child memorizes everything covered for the year in the Classical Conversations curriculum, and are able to recite this information to 4 adults (Mom, Dad, CC Tutor and CC Director) then they achieve Memory Master status. Well, we weren't sure if Anna would be able to do this but we gave it a try anyway to see. We worked really hard at home to learn everything such as: the 10 commandments, latin noun endings, helping verbs, the US presidents, all major events of world history in chronological order (aka "the timeline"), multiplication tables up to 15x15, square roots, scientific facts, history sentences, many geographical locations on the world map...among other things. It was a good lesson for her in setting her mind to something challenging and sticking with it. She did want to give up a couple times but that's when she just needed encouragement and a few rewards offered as incentive to keep going ;). We are very proud of our sweet girl and rejoice that she is striving for excellence in all that she does.
